Dai Nippon Printing’s high-precision printing technology provides an unparalleled richness to the color presentation for each piece. The original artwork’s true colors that normally cannot be achieved through standard printing processes can now be reproduced.

Full-color printing typically uses four ink colors—cyan, magenta, yellow, and key [black] (CMYK)—to produce various colors. The more you combine the three primary colors of light, the brighter the color will become; however, the more you combine the three ink colors of C, M, and Y—the three primary colors of pigment—the darker the color will become. This is why CMYK is not suited for reproducing bright colors due to its limitation of range in color presentation.

In contrast, Dai Nippon Printing’s high-precision printing technology uses an astounding ten types of ink color. By increasing the number of colors that can be reproduced without mixing from four to ten, it can cover a wider color spectrum and recreate the original artwork in detail down to the saturation and color contrast. 

High-precision printing technology also features some colors that would normally be difficult to produce through standard printing methods, such as clear and vibrant blues.
