Composer Nobuo Uematsu carefully selected 12 tracks from FINAL FANTASY VII, the first PlayStation FINAL FANTASY game, FINAL FANTASY VIII, the first to ever feature a theme song, and FINAL FANTASY IX, the last FINAL FANTASY game to be released in the original PlayStation generation, and arranged the songs into piano pieces. Just like the previous iterations, assisting in arrangement and performing the songs were handled by Hiroyuki Nakayama.
